InfoComm CTS Gets ANSI Accreditation! |
|
Wednesday, 19 March 2008 |

"Last year, I wrote an article on the need for "Standards" in the AV industry. Well, InfoComm not only listened, but they are the first to make a giant statement regarding standards with their new ANSI Accreditation. For those of you not familiar with ANSI (American National Standards Institute), know that, eventually, this will be a BIG DEAL. ANSI's the same organization that ultimately set the standards on specifying Lumens in projectors. Kudos to InfoComm!"
-- Gary Kayye, CTS
A source tells rAVe that InfoComm International has achieved accreditation from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for its CTS certification and training. Two InfoComm certification categories, the Certified Technology Specialist and Certified Technology Specialist ? Installation credentials, will have ANSI accreditation, making it the only organization with an ANSI label for personnel training. This is a great move by InfoComm -- the ANSI tag further solidifies how AV remains a highly specialized field. It's also a tremendous benefit to CTS-certified InfoComm members! .

Kayye Consulting, publisher of rAVe Pro and rAVe Home eNewsletters for the commercial and residential audiovisual channels, announces rAVe ED [Education]. The new publication, to be published on the rAVe website and distributed via email in the same fashion as rAVe Pro, rAVe Home and rAVe Staging [and Rental], will be published once a month.
“We are having a lot of fun and success with our new mini rAVe, rAVe Rental [and Staging] and will continue to address specific AV market segments,” said Gary Kayye, CTS, in making the announcement. “We will continue our tradition of bringing our style of news reporting, commentary and market analysis, to specific segments of the channel, and, as with rAVe Rental [and Staging], we found an industry insider in education AV to help make this happen.”
That insider is Greg Bronson, CTS-D. Bronson applies AV technologies in the development of innovative learning spaces for higher education. Greg spent the first 10 years of his career as AV technician and service manager, with the past 12 years as an AV system designer and project manager. Bronson currently works for Cornell University and has also worked for two SUNY (State University of New York) campuses as well as a regional secondary education service depot. Bronson is the originator of concept for InfoComm’s Dashboard for Controls and has had completed projects featured in industry publications.
“When I was approached about rAVe ED [Education], I already had a high regard for the other Kayye Consulting publications,” said Bronson. “Between my appreciation for the rAVe eNewsletters, and my own propensity to "rave" on about this AV profession I'm so passionate about, saying ‘yes’ to this opportunity was a no-brainer!”
